Introducing ISO 9001:2015

Indeed, these quality management principles read like staples for a well-functioning organisation. The inevitable next question, then, is how to achieve these principles in an efficient, systematised manner?

That’s where ISO 9001:2015 comes in. The international standard which specifies requirements for a quality management system, ISO 9001 helps organisations consistently provide products and services that meet the requirements of their customers and other stakeholders.

First published in the late 1980s, ISO 9001 was later revised in 1994, 2000, 2008, before its most recent version, adopted in 2015, became available. Those past revisions included changes to improve the control of the design and development clauses as well as clarify issues raised by the standard’s real-world application.

As it currently stands, though, ISO 9001 applies to all organisations, irrespective of size or sector. And given its broad applicability, ISO 9001 can help organisations better manage and continually improve the efficiency of all of their management processes.
